Precipitous Breech Delivery in the ED and Neonatal Assessment/Stabilization Simulation

Description

ICAHN, in partnership with Laerdal Medical and McDonough District Hospital, is offering an immersive, scenario-based simulation focused on Precipitous Breech Delivery in the Emergency Department and Neonatal Assessment and Stabilization—rare but high-risk events that demand rapid clinical judgment, coordinated teamwork, and confident intervention. This hands-on training is designed to strengthen provider confidence, technical skills, and team communication, particularly in rural and low-volume settings where these events may be infrequent but high acuity. What You’ll Gain Practice management of precipitous breech delivery in the ED setting Strengthen neonatal assessment and stabilization skills immediately following delivery Enhance team communication and role clarity during obstetric emergencies Learn alongside Laerdal simulation experts using high-fidelity equipment Who Should Attend Emergency Department staff OB and Med-Surg nurses Providers and clinical team members involved in delivery or newborn care.

Contact Hour Requirements
Participants may earn 2 contact hours by:
  • Completing the required prework prior to the training (this will be sent after registration).
  • Attending the entire simulation session.
  • Bringing their professional license number and entering it legibly on the sign-in sheet at the event.

Time

Wednesday, September 9, 2026 - Thursday, September 10, 2026 

Session Length: 2 hours per session 

Scheduling: Multiple sessions available across both days - choose the time that best fits your schedule

This event is offered free of charge through funding provided by the IDPH Pediatric Readiness Grant. Grant support allows us to provide this educational opportunity at no cost to participants while advancing pediatric readiness and emergency care across Illinois.
